The path to net zero by 2050, and 1.5C global warming must include CCS.
GeoVault is a wholly owned subsidiary of Buru Energy and is able to leverage over 15 years of extensive geological, operational and stakeholder knowledge and experience from oil and gas exploration and production in the onshore Canning Basin, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
GeoVault’s team of in-house CCS specialists have experience in the identification, appraisal and development of storage sites for carbon capture and storage, working across Australia and Europe.
Utilising Buru Energy’s considerable geological intellectual property and onshore acreage, GeoVault has determined a portfolio of geologically suitable storage areas in the Canning Basin based on surface and subsurface factors with Estimated Ultimate Storage (EUS) estimates prepared for each area in accordance with the CO2 Storage Resources Management System (‘SRMS’).
The results were independently reviewed by RISC Advisory (RISC) in 2023 and were found to be reasonable, taking into account assumptions in defining, characterising and preparing the EUS estimates for these areas.
Why use GeoVault?
GeoVault will provide the storage capacity as part of integrated GHG projects
GeoVault will explore for, appraise and develop the site to obtain the requisite GHG storage license. We will manage the storage site for the life of the project including the site closure process. We will maintain regulatory compliance.

What People Are Saying
“The diversity of its applications is immense; from direct air capture delivering negative emissions, to the ability to prevent infrastructure emissions lock-ins by abating existing infrastructure in the industrial and power sectors, capturing, using and storing carbon will be a vital instrument in reaching net-zero emissions goals.”
— Lord Nicholas Stern, Chairman, Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment.
“Realising carbon neutrality requires using multiple technologies, among which CCUS will play an indispensable part.”
— Prof. Jin Hongguang, Member of Cinea Academy of Science, Chair Commissioner, CCUS Professional Committee, Chinese Society of Environmental Science.
“It is the only group of technologies that contributes both to reducing emissions in key sectors directly and to removing CO₂ to balance emissions that cannot be avoided – a critical part of “net” zero goals.”
— CCUS in Clean Energy Transition, International Energy Agency, Sep 2020.
“Technology like this will be the key to further reducing emissions and ensure our resources will play an important role in providing Australia, and the world’s, energy needs.”
— The Hon Angus Taylor MP, Minister for Industry , Energy, and Emissions Reduction.
